Dr. Kathryn (“Kate”) Newhart is an Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering at Oregon State University. Her research tackles the real-world challenges of our aging water infrastructure using big data. In particular, data-driven process monitoring, control, and optimization of water, wastewater, and resource recovery systems. Recent work includes prediction of carcinogens in RO-based water reuse systems, kinetics of a novel disinfectant in wastewater, and phosphorus recovery in the largest precipitation reactor in North America.
